Thailand is an inexplicably beautiful country. Unless you have visited, it’s difficult to put in to words how beautiful it is. Thailand is also, in a sense, a paradox. There is so much beauty and tranquility, yet such mayhem.
Arriving in Suvarnabhumi airport, like all international arrivals in to Thailand, I was instantly engulfed in the mayhem. The 10hr flight (including layover in Delhi) from London with Air India wasn’t actually too bad; I had been slightly anxious ahead of flying thanks to the negative reviews I had seen online but I was pleasantly surprised. Curry for dinner and lunch, plus a generous serving from the drinks trolley had made the journey quite enjoyable.
After passing through immigration, I made my way out of the airport to be greeted by a gaggle of shouting taxi drivers, all desperate for the business.
